The University of Exeter itself is a regular subject too, since its campus is known for its green, parkland setting rather than dense city building, and an aerial view carries that across in a way a brochure photograph of a single lecture building never manages. The same applies to open days and prospectus imagery, where showing the scale and layout of the grounds against the wider city matters more than any one piece of architecture.

Exeter Airport sits close enough to the city that parts of it fall inside controlled airspace, which means any booking here is planned and checked before the drone leaves the case, not worked out on the day. The best light in Exeter comes early, when the sun catches the cathedral's west front and the Quayside is still quiet before the crowds and the road traffic build up. Calm morning air also settles better over the tighter streets of the centre, where buildings on both sides of a shot disturb the wind more than open ground would.
